"HATS OFF" was released in 1927 , and was a silent short , the
title card said "The story of two boys who figure that the world owes them a
living -, but is about 35 years behind in the payments", |
You won`t have seen "Hats off" on Video to buy , or in any Cinema
, for the simple , and tragic reason , is that the film has been lost , there
is no known copy on any format anywhere in the World , every couple of years
there is rumor that a copy has been found , on this format or that , or in an
Eastern European film archive , but as of now (Jan 2003) , nothing has shown up
, but we live in hope , You never know!! |
At the time of its release "Hats off" was a huge success , which
makes its loss all the more mystifiying and sad , we know quite a lot about it
,because of the publicity surrounding it , there are quite a lot of stills
around ,the story is quite similar to the "Music Box" made 5 years later , in
that Stan and Ollie have to deliver a large and bulky object up a loooooong
flight of stairs, the small thumbnails below tell the story and if you click on
